What it is
Everyone runs the same loop, about 6.7km, and you've got an hour to get round it. Whatever time you've got left over, you rest. Then the bell goes and you all head off again. If you don't get back inside the hour, you're out. It carries on like that, hour after hour, until there's one person left. They're the last egg standing.
Roughly how it goes
- 00:00
Bell goes and everyone heads off round the loop together.
- ~45:00
The quick ones are already back, refilling bottles and eating whatever's going. The faster you run, the more rest you get, so that's about the only thing to it.
- 59:59
You need to be back inside the hour. Get in at 60:01 and that's you out.
- 60:00
Bell again, same loop, off you go. This carries on all day.
Keep going long enough and everyone else has packed it in. Whoever's left wins, and gets a medal one of us made.
Not fancying the running? Come anyway. We always need people to marshal, hand out flapjacks and cheer folk on, and it's a big part of the day.
